I'm more of a passionate fucker with a hint of dominance. I can accommodate in a very discreet and safe apartment in Belgravia. Twitter: a tall (5'11), lean, hung shemale from Brazil. Let me say here that I don’t consider myself a musician. I eventually bought an electric clavinet. It had a great sound but was out of tune so could only be used sparingly. You had to pump away at a couple of pedals to push air through the bellows. And I bought an antique harmonium in Chelsea. Steve brought in his recorder and then took up the flute. Dan bought a marimba, a sort of ethnic wooden xylophone. We wanted to augment our sound with additional instruments. I took up the keyboard when we became Fairfield Parlour. The greatest regret of my life is that I can’t play the bloody guitar. Seven notes of “Tom Dooley” ain’t going to get you the girls. It didn’t impress anyone because as soon as I was asked to play something the game was up. I used to hang around the youth club trying to look cool with this cardboard guitar that I couldn’t play strung round my neck on a red cord. I could play the first seven notes of “Tom Dooley” and that was it. PETER: My first instrument was a cheap guitar from Woolworth’s. What was the first instrument you picked up? After what must have been a heated discussion in the wings the show started again - with Fury slightly less furious in the pants department. And his very tight trousers! My God! What’s that!? The management pulled the curtain on him. His genuine rock voice: cool, broken, aching. The boys are open-mouthed, not believing what they’re seeing. He’s wearing a bronze silk Italian suit that ripples like holy water. The announcement, the plush red curtains pull back, the band kicks in – and there is this glimmering dazzling blindingly handsome creature: Billy Fury. The night we saw Billy Fury is engraved in gold lame on my brain. So now he had to drag it around like some death trophy, a constant reminder of the night the Grim Reaper took the great Cochran up the three steps to heaven. Old Gene, he busted his leg good ‘n proper. Vincent had been in the car the night Eddie Cochran got mashed. Greasy quiff, chiselled craggy white face, baby blue satin shirt, tight black pants, and a shimmering metal brace holding his leg together. Then the spots came on and there was Gene with his trademark crooked-man pose hanging onto the mic stand: “Be bop alloola, she’s ah my baby…” What a cool guy. He was announced to a blacked out theatre we all cheered and then we heard this scraping sound. An electric, palpable hum of expectation preceded Vincent’s appearance. I know we saw people like Chuck Berry, Del Shannon, Dion, and I can’t forget two acts in particular: Gene Vincent and Billy Fury. I would love to recall the acts I saw, but they’ve vanished into some dingy corner of my soggy cerebellum. Each would do their hit and a couple of other songs and then scuttle off stage to make way for the next latest sensation. You’d see five or six acts on the same bill. PETER: My mate Les and I used to go to see the rock shows that toured Britain, appearing at the cinema chains. What are your earliest musical memories, such as the first musical event you attended? Thanks to Joe Viglione, as always, and my friend Jack Rabid. Peter did a great interview, and there are lots of fun stories herein. They were conducted by email and the good old postal service, and Eddie was sick at the time, so I wasn’t even sure I would get to communicate with him. I thought given the news that Eddie is gone from us, and Peter’s heartbreaking post on Facebook, that I would bring these interviews back. I stupidly took down both interviews as I was harshly criticized by a fan for not interviewing Danny, the band’s drummer. I also interviewed the sadly passed Eddie Pumer, the band’s guitarist and songwriter. As part of the prize Fredrik spent a day recording and mixing the song in Mcasso Studios. Listen to the full song below.I interviewed Peter Daltrey for Issue 74 of Big Takeover Magazine. Established musician Fredrik Ceder was selected as the winner. This concealer can crease if too much is applied. Not to mention it also leaves behind a gorgeous natural-looking finish that makes skin glow.Ĭomplete with beauty editors’ favorites, makeup artists' picks, and top-rated options, we found the best concealers for skin types ranging from dry to oily as well as aging and blemish prone. Ultimately, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer won our vote for the best concealer overall because of its ability to provide smooth, even coverage, correct discoloration, and cover blemishes for long periods of time. We also tapped notable makeup artists to share their product picks and expert recommendations for concealers that address a range of concerns. To find the best concealers on the market, we searched high and low, uncovering the top-rated options across all brands. Whether you want to brighten the skin under your eyes, add coverage to a pesky breakout, or define your favorite facial features, there’s a concealer that will make your beauty woes all but disappear. It can also be used to highlight, contour, and enhance bone structure to add more depth to the face. It addresses a handful of different beauty concerns, including disguising dark under-eye circles, hiding blemishes, camouflaging redness, evening out skin tone, and blurring imperfections. If it needs a little extra push into the skin I’ll use a few pats of a damp beauty blender after application. If you were to flip through a yearbook that had Senior Superlatives for the best beauty products of all time, there’s no doubt that concealer would win "Most Likely to Succeed." The reason? Concealer is one of the most versatile makeup items you can have in your collection. You don’t need much! Also - not sure what kind of tools you use, but I’ve found a concealer brush more effective on my dark circles than a beauty blender (keeps more of the coverage at least in my experience). I use a light hand when using both a brightener and concealer to keep it from looking heavy. However, the Shisedo is the only concealer I have that even without brightener does a good job on the dark circles! Though again, I still typically use the eye brightener under it. You don’t need to use much, and I found I don’t need to set it with powder. It’s pretty pricey - but it’s just so effective. Though, the one I found most effective for good coverage without being cakey is the Shisedo Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing concealer. Regardless, both are good and they really make a difference without being intense.Ĭoncealer: I also like the Kosas concealer! It works great with those eye brighteners. Anyway, I think my favorite is the one from Beauty Pie, but it’s pretty much the same as the Becca Under Eye Brightener but it’s a little less luminous. I‘ve tried orange correctors and they just look strange on me (I’m fair skinned for reference). Under Eye Brightener: I use a little bit of peachy-pink corrector and then concealer. So, I do a natural look typically as well with bad dark circles. Please report any comments that fit this description so we can act accordingly. Serving up delicious chinese dishes, this restaurant is the best in town. The younger guy who checked me out when I picked up the food was rude and impatient with me. I recently ordered take-out food from them. This restaurant merits three stars for its introduction of the Mongolian barbecue-a good, entertaining innovation at a reasonable price-with the reservation that service and some regular menu offerings still need major improvements. Like the HP Chromebook x2 11, the IdeaPad Duet 5’s kickstand is an add-on that snaps onto the tablet’s back and is held in place by powerful magnets. You’d save about half a pound going with Apple or Microsoft’s smallest tablets. The IdeaPad Duet 5 isn’t a small tablet by any means, but it’s manageable. In terms of weight, the IdeaPad Duet 5 is 1.54 pounds for the tablet alone, compared to the Surface Pro 8 at 1.96 pounds and the ThinkPad X12 Detachable at 1.67 pounds. The Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable is another competitive tablet with a 12.3-inch 3:2 display, and it’s roughly the same size as the Surface Pro 8, thanks to the latter’s smaller bezels. If you can stand the size, then the Lenovo is a viable competitor. Of course, the IdeaPad Duet 5 is significantly larger than the Apple iPad and Microsoft Surface Go, which are built around 10.2-inch and 10.5-inch displays respectively. Microsoft’s tablet is thicker at 0.37 inches compared to the IdeaPad Duet 5’s 0.28 inches, but the Surface Pro 8 has its kickstand built in - more on that a moment. Compared to its closest Windows 11 competitor, the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 with its 13-inch 3:2 display, the IdeaPad Duet 5 is almost an inch wider, but the Surface Pro 8 is nearly an inch taller. It is mainly the mouse cursor that does not feel supersmooth, especially if the display is updating screen elements (for instance, scrolling in a text and moving the mouse cursor at the same time). In terms of lag: there is definitely lag, but of a strange sort. It is ideal for having an extra screen occasionally on which you can display mail or a web browser. Scaling works quite well, the full retina mode is too small for me, so I usually put it somewhere between the retina resolution and the old 1024x768 resolution. I see quite some artifacting going on, like a jpeg that has been compressed to much. Regarding image quality: I guess they use a lot of compression. Sometimes I also have to explicitly quit the Duet process and start it again. Once you've done this a couple of times, it's pretty clear how it works and how you get value. I'm really convinced Tom has never tried this before. It's because, the person making the request has done a search on LinkedIn and is routing it through you. Tom also wonders "why people didn't just send him an email" when they are making a connection. Or maybe Tom should ask a question on LinkedIn such as "How do people get value from LinkedIn?" to help him learn how to formulate requests? He would get wonderful responses on this. But there's nothing like drilling down on a topic with a person for 30-60 minutes. Most people I've met through LinkedIn are quite willing to spend time talking with me about the particular issue. The key ingredient is being able to formulate what you are looking for. I've met fantastic people through LinkedIn. Maybe he should look through his network for something like "social networking" to find some expertise on the topic as he's thinking about the possible value proposition? It’s a funny world. He never initiates a connection? What!?!Įither Tom doesn't get it, or Tom doesn't ever need to find expertise on a topic. Occasionally people I know have asked me through LinkedIn for access to my connections - which an email notifies me of - and I wonder why they didn’t just send me an email themselves. I can safely say that I have gotten nothing out of the site other than emails saying that so-and-so would like to connect. When I do know the person, I often wonder why, if they really want to connect with me, they don’t just send me an email or call me on the phone. I never initiate a “connection,” but I dutifully accept invitations to connect, even when I don’t know the person. Now Davenport is at it again with a post (on his blog no less - I guess he doesn't want to be productive himself) - LinkedIn Is Not a Social Network.
